Reynolds's standing with Iowan Republicans may provide DeSantis with the much-needed momentum to challenge the overwhelming favorite, former President Donald Trump, with less than 100 days to go until the Iowa caucuses, which serve as the opening round of the Republican primary.

The Trump campaign issued a statement after Reynolds' support, alleging the governor had "completely broken her pledge to her constituents that she would remain neutral in the race." Besides, her endorsement won't change the result of this election.

Reynolds's impartial position has been a point of contention for the Trump campaign, which has also attacked the governor for not supporting the candidate using her political influence.
